Homework Project Introduction

For this project I learned the benefits of balanced homework for students.
This is a an important issue because in one hand homework is an important part of student's study, but on the other hand sutdents are suffuring from too much homework. A lot of issues occurs such as lack of sleeping, bad mood, ineffectiveness and etc. I found that a good way to solve these problems is to have balanced and effective homework for students.
This project presents my findings and hopefully acts as a guide for you to learn more about this topic. First, here is a video I made that briefly summarizes the issue and my thoughts on the topic. I have also provided some vocabulary words I came across that I think are important to understanding this topic. Here I provide summaries on two readings I’ve done on this topic, with links to the original articles. Finally, this is my formal argument where I detail my stance on the issues.
I hope you enjoy learning about this topic that I've argued. Please feel free to post a comment and let me know what you think – either about your reaction to my project or to engage an idea you found interesting.
Thank you!

Students Should Have Balanced Homework

Students Should Have Balanced Homework
Homework plays an important role in students’ daily life. Homework is seemed as the most efficient and the best way to achieve academic approaches. However; do students really need to do a large amount of homework every day? For me, the answer was yes until I read an article called ‘Do Kids Need Homework’. In this article, what experts have found through numerous studies is that in order to increase their grades students have to have the right balance of homework. And balanced homework does have positive impact on students’ academic approach. So, students should have balanced homework.
The first reason to support this thesis is that students are not playing only as students’ role as they grow up. They should have amount of time to enjoy their life, and to make their life more diverse.  As we all know that life is only one chance. We should make more width during this limited length time. That is to say to increase life possibilities as much as we can. So, students should have time on TV if they like. Because TV is benefit for these people to know the world by very visual and sound way, especially for visual learners.  Then if students like to experience, then they should get time to go hiking, biking and so on. Because in these ways, they can learn and get improved by a closed and experienced way for knowing something new, especially for those people who prefer to experience by themselves. Either example of these two improved that homework is not the only way of learning, and balanced homework can make more extra time for students to develop their interests and to learn and experience more.
Secondly, students are at the age of physically growth. They have physical needs for their health. They have to get enough time to sleep and keep in good emotion. From article ‘Do Kids Need Homework’, it states that large amount of homework works not as well as people’s wants. Some impact it would cause such as children’s bad mood, lack of sleeping time, health problems and so on. This is a very serious problem. Life is only once, if we missed some special time for us to do some particular things, then we would not achieve the best results. For example, in China, parents are very worried about the height of their children. In China, most of the students are in situation of lacking of sleep. Sleeping time is the most important time for students’ skeleton, and for bones to grow. If they missed their teenage time which is also called golden time for growth, they are going to regret and sad for their life. So, balanced homework would save students, and to improve and keep their physical health.
Lastly, balanced homework would avoid some unnecessary homework which does not function well. This would save students’ time, and students would practice and focus more on what they really needed. Balanced homework should be focused on what students really need. In Chinese, we have a sentence that people should focus on what they are good at, and then people should dig it out deeply. So, that causes the social circumstances that scientist, seller, doctor and etc. A balanced homework would make more time for students, and they can do more practice on the subject they would like to go deeper. This would cause the students’ direction of study, and make their advantages compare to other competitors in the future.
As a conclusion, large amount of homework for students is not a good way for academic approach. Balanced homework would benefit students more, and would have a better impact on students’ future life.

In the article"Do kids need homework",The writer Editor discussed that homework does have good impact on children’s study, but on the other hand it does also have a negative impact. For instance, too much homework would make children stressful, and it would effect children’s health. These might cause bad affect on relationship between parents and children. At the end, the article suggest parents to think and back up their children at children’s point of view, and it will work out more.

Summary 2:http://www.teachingmethodsonline.com/case-studies/student-should-have-homework-everyday-why-why-not-2

In the article “Student should have homework everyday? why & why not?” The author Mario M. Abdolowleh discusses  that if students should dothere home work everyday and she agree with giving students homework every day but the homework need to be appropriate. First of allhe thinks that daily homework is helpful but we need some changes about homework, unless we want students to do one to two hours homeworkeveryday without help. Then, the students who can’t get support about homework from their parents always spend their time on doing outside activities. But they are not accepted by teachers. So most of students have to finish their homework everyday. Education need to helpful but it doesn’t means students need to do the homework they are unable to do. The right amount of homework is helpful for reviewing the knowledge. A lot of homework will make students tired to study so they need kind of rest. In conclusionhomewor is okay but it can’t be a lot.
